Location of the Apartment and Nearby Attractions

“Near the Lake” apartment is located immediately close to Jarun Lake, in the liveliest recreational neighborhood in Zagreb. This is a perfect place for those who like sports, adventure, and fun. It is a perfect place for walking around the lake.

Within a five minute walk of the apartment there are many different sport facilities, such as indoor and outdoor pools, volleyball club, track and field, tennis courts, fitness centers, rugby and lawn hockey fields…

Around Jarun Lake, there’s a series of beach volleyball and beach handball courts, basketball courts and ping pong tables, as well as bike, roller skating and walking tracks. Professional kayaking is also available.

You can also swim in the lake or sunbath on one of the many pebble beaches that surround it. That’s why Jarun is popularly called “zagrebačko more”, meaning “The Sea of Zagreb”. J

From the embankment that lines one part of the Jarun Lake complex spreads the view of the magnificent “Arena”, the new, recently opened hall in Zagreb, where many sport events and concerts of popular Croatian and foreign performers take place. Arena is a host place of different cultural, business and entertainment events, as well.

The best way to come to “Arena” is to take a bus line 109 (Crnomerec-Dugave) on the bus stop “Horvacanska cesta” in the direction of Dugave, ride 3 stops and exit on the stop “Savski Gaj”. From there, walk for approximately  5 minutes southwest, toward the neighborhood “Laniste”.

Along with the numerous sport activities, this neighborhood offers a fine choice of excellent restaurants. Located nearby, Lido is a perfect oasis for real gourmets, while Leut in its coastal style offers delicious meals from Mediterranean and continental cuisine. Very close to them is catering trade Sava, which is popular for its great barbecue and grill dishes. Great restaurant and pizzeria Stara Sava, located near the volleyball club, offers various kinds of pizzas and yummy lasagnas and pastas.

Night life is another synonym for this neighborhood because there are many clubs, discos and bars. Friday and Saturday are the best days for this kind of fun, so if you’re interested, Aquarius, Piranha Club, The Best, Gallery, Rock Club Pauk – SKUC, In Bar and Lake City are some of the choices.

How to Get to the Apartment?

From the airport of Zagreb: There’s a special bus that comes to the airport every 30 minutes and drives to the main bus station ( Autobusni kolodvor) of Zagreb. From the main bus station , take a tram line 5  in the direction of Precko and exit on the stop “Horvati”.

From the main railway station of Zagreb ( Glavni kolodvor): Take a tram line 2 (Crnomerec-Savisce) in the direction of Savisce or tram line 6 (Crnomerec-Sopot) in the direction of Sopot. Exit on the 3.stop “Autobusni kolodvor” (bus station), take a tram line 5 in the direction of Precko and exit on the stop “Horvati”. A drive takes 15-20 minutes.

From the Apartment to the City

To get to the strong center of Zagreb and its most beautiful attractions, it takes about 20 minutes by public transport. Take a tram line 17 (Precko-Borongaj) in the direction of Borongaj and exit on the stop “Trg bana Josipa Jelacica” (the main square).

Close to the apartment there is a bus stop for bus line 109 (Crnomerec-Dugave), which connects 2 opposite sides of the city: southeast with northwest or Novi Zagreb (newer part) with Stari Zagreb (older part).

Also, there are many useful facilities around the apartment, such as a post office, bank, pharmacy, bakery, small grocery stores (open on Sundays, too), local restaurants and bars, pizza places… All that is available without using a car or public transport.

After you’re done visiting the city’s historical downtown with the Upper Town, Croatian National Theater (HNK), Kaptol and Mirogoj, life of Zagreb is moving to the shores of the Jarun Lake – either recreational or night.
